Sugar City was created by a group of 20-somethings, looking to hold art shows in a place other than their own attic and rock shows in somewhere besides their basements.  The facility exists to organize alternative community arts and cultural events in the Buffalo area and works to “share and create art based on participatory culture and a do-it-together attitude.”  Events and initiatives include, but are not limited to music, films, a zine library, meeting space, local craft corner, art gallery, workshops and workspaces.  Sugar City is about sharing creativity and energy and the organization focuses itself on the exhibition, performance and creation of art for those who cannot obtain space from traditional sources.  19 Wadsworth Street is the storefront headquarters of Sugar City where you can purchase featured artwork, locally made goods and a variety of Sugar City merchandise.
